Pastor Julian Bermudez – PASTOR OF FINANCE

Pastor Julián bermudez is the newest member of the pastoral staff at First Assembly. He will teach, preach and counsel the church alongside the other pastors, but mainly, he will focus on managing the church’s revenues and expenditures, banking, vendor and auditor relationships and collaborate with the church Treasurer to oversee all of the church’s finances.

Prior to his appointment in April 2017, Pastor Julián served as an Elder for 26 years, with oversight responsibilities for the sacraments (baptism and communion) as well a trusted advisor to Lead Pastor Wes Johnson and the Deacons on all church matters, particularly the selection and vetting of church leaders (Elders, Deacons, Ministry Heads and Teachers) and issues pertaining to the spiritual life of the church. As an Elder, Pastor Julián served on the Board of Directors of First Assembly of God, Inc.

Prior to becoming an Elder in 1991, Pastor Julián served as a Deacon for 5 years; concurrently serving as Secretary of the Board and Church Treasurer.  He has served and provided leadership to various ministries over the last 38 years, including the Men’s Ministry, Hospitality Ministry, Couples Ministry, Royal Rangers, Budget and Finance Committees, as well as an adult Bible teacher.  Teamed up with Lead Pastor Wes, he also conducts and teaches the REAL Life Commitments class, aimed at preparing candidates for formal church membership and ministry assignments.

Pastor Julián and Laura, his wife of more than 48 years, have been attending and serving at First Assembly since 1979. They head up a family of four grown children, four children-in-law and eight grandchildren; all of whom live in the Northern Virginia area.

Pastor Julián was ordained in 2007, and together with his wife Laura, lead Two Hearts, One Life Ministries, Inc. serving engaged and married couples with pre-marital counseling, marriage counseling and wedding services.

Pastor Julián is a decorated Vietnam veteran. He is a naturalized, first generation Cuban-American, grew up and educated in New York City. He earned several college degrees in the fields of theology, management, law and public policy.
