Mark 16:15, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
First Assembly of God has a heart for all people. The Great Commission is taken seriously to reach souls at home and abroad with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
Each year the Evangelism and Missions departments sponsor events to reach the lost:
This event targets the local community of Alexandria, VA to reach out to those in our backyard. With volunteers from First Assembly, we gather in the community performing acts of kindness, playing games with the children, serving food, and there is the grand finale of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many have made public professions of receiving Jesus Christ.
DC Homeless Outreach:
On the 2nd Saturday of December, volunteers from First Assembly, local and out of State churches participate in this all day outreach to meet the needs of as many homeless people as possible. Because the number of homeless people have grown dramatically, we have begun focusing on the homeless in the metropolitan areas of DC (2 shelters), Maryland (1 shelter and Teen Challenge), and Virginia (1 Virginia). While we may not be able to reach all but with God’s help we will continue to be obedient to His Word in Matthew 25:35-36, “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.”
Missions are important to God and to First Assembly of God because we must reach the lost. First Assembly supports in prayer and finances 52 missionaries at home and abroad to carry the Gospel in accordance to Mark 16:15. In addition, members of First Assembly take mission trips to different parts of the world to preach, witness, teach and build churches.
