Serving in the Community is part of God’s plan for you individually and for the church. There are several ways where you can experience the blessing of serving others locally in our community and communities nearby.
Helping Hands Outreach
Helping Hands Outreach makes beautiful, quality, hand-made items for those who need them most. Hundreds of knitted and crocheted lap robes for wheelchair patients, afghans for veterans, preemie and cancer caps for the local hospitals and so much more are provided free of charge in the name of Christ.
Nursing Home Outreach
On the second Saturday of every month, the team ministers to the sick and the elderly at two local nursing homes. The residents are blessed by songs, testimonies, prayer, the Word of God and special treats.
Alexandria Outreach
Alexandria Outreach provides an opportunity to serve our community by sharing the Gospel door-to-door around the Church neighborhood.
Backpack Outreach
Every year in August, First Assembly provides over 125 backpacks to low income families in a local Alexandria Public school. The backpacks are stuffed with all the needed school supplies to provide each children with a jump start to a successful school year.
Homeless Outreach
Every December, volunteers from First Assembly and other churches minister in DC shelters and on the streets of Washington, DC. The homeless are blessed by the Gospel, food and gifts.
Prison Ministry
The Prison Ministry continues to visit and minister to those incarcerated both on the city and state levels once a month. All visits are focused on sharing God’s love, the Word of God, praying and leading souls to Christ
