Renew – To make like new, restore, regenerate, revive or resume.
Habakkuk 3:2 Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Oh Lord. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.
As I sought the Lord for what our 2021 Theme would be, I felt like the Lord dropped this word, Renew, into my spirit. It was hard to explain at first. The year that we had been in was full of lockdowns, restrictions, essential and non-essential people, but it had been a revealing season. A time that God brought to surface many things in our lives that He desired for us to engage in, both personally and corporately. Areas that we stood steady and places for us to continue to grow. The challenges that came also came with a Grace that could only come from Him. We saw God’s provision and felt His hand leading and guiding us through.
As 2021 comes I feel like the Lord is saying, ‘from the hard place I will bring life.’ In His time and in His way, we will see His presence. We will stand in awe of what He will do.
So, join me as we pray for Him to Renew, or as some of the translations say ‘repeat, or to revive’. I pray that He do it in our day. Remind us of Your power and might, Oh Lord, and renew it in us. In our time, our homes, our lives make them known as we stand in your Grace and mercy.
For His Glory,
Pastor Wes Johnson
